37-year-old HIV patient gets life sentence for molesting a 4-year-old girl

Chiemela Victor Ekeke, who raped a four-year-old girl in Umuahia recently, has been jailed for life by a Magistrate’s Court in Umuahia, Abia State.

37-year-old Ekeke had confessed that he was HIV-positive, even with a claim that his viral problem had been “flushed” by his doctor.

Delivering her ruling on the matter, the Presiding Magistrate, N. Lekwa said that the Court had in the last sitting found the accused person guilty.

Before being jailed, the defendant was however discharged on count 1, which is bordered on conspiracy. A second defendant in the matter was discharged and acquitted, as the Court determined that he had no common intention or anything linking him to the crim£.

The prosecuting counsel, Okezuonu Obioma applauded the decision of the Court, saying that it was in tandem with the position of the law in d£f#ling of a minor.
