Terrorists invade Matawalle’s town, abduct 50 persons
Group of terrorists early Friday morning invaded Maradun town, the headquarters of Maradun Local Government Area (LGA) in Zamfara state and reportedly kidnapped over 50 persons, mainly women.
Maradun is the home town of Nigeria’s Minister of State (Defence), Hon. Bello Muhammed Matawalle.
A resident of the area, Malam Sulaiman Maradun, in a telephone conversation said that the terrorists besieged the town at around 12am and started house to house operations.
“It was so terrible the way they stormed our town because they came with sophisticated weapons and began shooting sporadically on air in the midnight of today Friday,” he said
He further stated that the terrorists killed 10 people and made away with yet to be ascertained number of animals belonging to the community in the area.

He said the terrorists attacked the Emir of Maradun palace Alhaji Garba Tambari in the absence of the traditional ruler.
“As I speak to you now, many people mainly women have been kidnapped by these terrorists during the attack and many of our people have been missing and nowhere to be found so far,” he said
“This is not the first time these dreaded terrorists are attacking the Maradun community. Governments at all levels should take drastic and urgent measures to address the lingering insecurity affecting our area.”
Maradun called on the federal and Zamfara state governments to deploy more troops to the area to safeguard people from the horrible activities of terrorists and restore peace in the area.
Efforts to reach the state police command public relations officer Asp Yazid Abubakar failed as all his lines were not reachable while compiling the report.
