4 killed, 6 injured as three-storey building collapses in Imo
Four persons were hurriedly despatched to eternal rest on Sunday as a three storey building came down in Imo state.
Six others were however rescued alive under the debris in the incident that happened at No.9 Egbu road, by fire service junction in Owerri.
National Daily learnt that the cause of the building collapse was due to structural defect as the landlord allegedly added two more floors to the building without the right approval.
Meanwhile, the Imo State government has instructed that all ongoing building construction should go for re-verification before completion.
The Imo State Police Commissioner, Chris Ezike, confirmed the incident, but said that no arrest as the landlord ran away immediately he heard the sad news of the collapse of the building.
