Tokyo 2020: Minister inaugurates committee on preparations
The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, Friday in Abuja, inaugurated a 12-member committee to ensure Team Nigeria gets adequate preparation to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics which is billed Tokyo 2020 Olympics is scheduled to hold between July 24 to Aug. 9, while the Paralympics will take place from Aug. 25 to Sept. 6.
The Minister while urging the committee to ensure a hitchfree participation at the games, said the committee is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring adequate preparations for Team Nigeria at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympic Games.
He also tasked the committee to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure Team Nigeria does not stop at preparations but win medals at the games.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, while calling on the media and other stakeholders to support the committee, assured that they would work nonstop to ensure Team Nigeria achieves success at the competition.
Members of the committee include; Habu Gumel, Brig.-Gen. Emico Eruwa, Mrs. Hauwa Kulu-Akinyemi and Ademola Are.
Others are Dr Paul Onyeudo, Mrs. Toyin Madein, Mary Onyali, Mr Samuel Abiodun Owoborode, Emma Meeting as A Secretary and Mrs. Tayo Oreweme as the Secretary.
