Nigeria joins Somalia, Sudan, others on Wikipedia’s list of failed countries
Nigeria has joined Wikipaedia’s list of failed countries that include the likes of Somalia, Sudan, Iraq, Yemen, Turkey, Democratic Republic of Congo and many others.
Wikipedia, a free internet based encyclopedia, stated that, “A failed state is a political body that has disintegrated to a point where basic conditions and responsibilities of a sovereign government no longer function properly.
Wikipedia noted that according to Fund for Peace, a country has failed if it has lost hold of its territory, “or of the monopoly on the legitimate use of physical force therein, erosion of legitimate authority to make collective decisions, inability to provide public services, inability to interact with other states as a full member of the international community.
Other countries listed as failed states include; Syria, Myanmar, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Liberia, Yugoslavia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Sudan and South Sudan.
