PDP endorses Enugu governor, Ugwuanyi, new party leader in South East
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had endorsed Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State as the new party leader in the South East.
PDP Acting Chairman in the South East, after the party’s meeting in Enugu State disclosed the endorsement in a media interaction.
It was revealed that Governor Ugwuanyi was endorsed the party leader in the zone after the defection of the South East Governors’ Forum’s Chairman, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on November 17, 2020.
The defection of the Ebonyi State governor to the APC left the PDP with only two states in the southeast, Abia and Enugu.
“We unanimously adopted Gov Ugwuanyi as leader of PDP in the South East zone because of his immeasurable contributions in the region.
“We are sure and satisfied that he will lead South East PDP to success,” the zonal party chairman had declared.
