PDP Governors declare support for Buhari in tackling insecurity
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum on Thursday declared support for President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Government in the tackling of the security crises in Nigeria.
The PDP Governors Forum led by Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, at a meeting on Thursday in Abuja, resolved to melt the ideological Faultline separating parties in the country, and support the efforts of President Buhari and the APC government to end insecurity in Nigeria.
Governor Tambuwal, in a media interaction at the end of the meeting, remarked that the security challenges in the country – banditry, terrorism, armed robbery and kidnapping, require the cooperation of all stakeholders, essentially, state actors, irrespective of party affiliation.
The Sokoto State governor declared that the PDP governors are ready to work with the Federal Government in tackling the insecurity problem once and for all.
The meeting, which was held at the Sokoto State Governor’s Lodge, Abuja, was attended by Governors Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Bello Matawalle, Zamfara State; Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu State; Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Samuel Ortom, Benue State; Ben Ayade, Cross River State; Seyi Makinde, Oyo State; Nyesom Wike, Rivers State; Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State; and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
Others in attendance at the meeting included some members of the National Executive Council of the PDP, who include former Senate Presidents – Dr. Bukola Saraki and Pius Anyim, as well as former governors of Gombe and Katsina states, Ibrahim Dankwambo and Ibrahim Shema, among others.
