Sales rep in court for allegedly stealing employer’s N700,000
A 34-year-old sales representative, Habu Samson, on Wednesday aappeared in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna, for allegedly stealing N700,000 belonging to his employer.
The police charged Samson with two counts of conspiracy and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told court that Badamasi Adebayo, of Constitution Road, Kaduna, reported the matter at the Gabasawa Police Station on Feb. 24.
Leo said that the complainant asked the defendant and one other employee to deliver goods to some customers and they failed to remit the money into his account.
He said that the defendant confessed to have converted the money to his own use.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 271 and 59 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017
Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Emmanuel ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must show evidence of two years tax payments to the Kaduna State Government.
He adjourned the case until April 5, for mention.
