Emir of Ilorin appoints former CJN Belgore BoT Chairman llorin Central Jumu’at mosque
The Emir of llorin and Chairman Kwara council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, has approved the appointment of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alfa Belgore as the new Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the llorin central Jumu’at mosque.
This was contained issued by the Secretary of the BoT, Alhaji Shehu Abdulgafar, in llorin, on Wednesday.
With the appointment, Belgore succeeds the late pioneer Grand khadi of Kwara, Justice Abdulkadir Orire, who died in Jan, 2021
The BoT is the highest decision making body of the mosque, responsible to the Emir of llorin, who is the President and Custodian of the mosque, including its general management and maintenance.
According to the statement, the new BoT Chairman played a prominent role in the realization of the mosque and donated generously to its construction.
“Belgore has been a committed member of the Board of Trustees since inception, also serving as the Chairman of its sub-committee on Investments”, the statement said.
The 84-year-old jurist, who holds the traditional title of Wanbai of Ilorin, is a member of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), the International Bar Association (IBA), Nigeria Body of Benchers and Overseas Master of the Bench, Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, and was Chief Justice of Nigeria between 2006 and 2007.
