Water Corporation registers 33,000 customers in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Water and Sewage Corporation (BSWSC), says it is supplying portable water to 33,000 registered customers in Bauchi metropolis.
Alhaji Aminu Gital, Managing Director of the Corporation, stated this in an interview, on Monday in Bauchi.
Gital said the Corporation was supplying water to 33,000 registered consumers in the metropolis with a monthly revenue target of N18 million.
He said the monthly revenue generation was not commensurate with the services rendered by the Corporation due to the inability of the customers to settle their bills.
“The revenue target is about N18 million but we only relised between N3.5 and N3.8 million monthly,’’ he said.
He urged the customers to ensure prompt payment of their water bill, warning that defaulters would be disconnected.
The Corporation, he said, installed about 10,000 domestic water meters in the metropolis for proper monitoring of consumption and for accurate billing system.
According to him, the Corporation is planning to install 40,000 additional meters to further regulate consumption and sustain uninterrupted water supply.
He said that the state government had invested so much to enhance water supply services in the past two years.
The manager further urged the consumers to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring prompt settlement of their bill and protect water facilities against vandalism.
The National Daily reports that state government has upgraded the 711km water reticulation system to enhance access to safe drinking water in Bauchi metropolis.
