Possible way Chelsea could lineup against Zenit St Petersburg tomorrow
Chelsea will face Zenit St Petersburg in tomorrow’s Champions League fixture. Thomas Tuchel side will be looking to grab all three points against Zenit to start this Champions League campaign with a win. It won’t be an easy task for Chelsea, Zenit St Petersburg are currently in their best form they’ve been unbeaten in seven league games and have scored the most goals in the Russian league so far this season.
Thomas Tuchel will have to use his best available squad against Zenit St Petersburg if he wants to get the win. Here’s the possible way Chelsea could lineup against Zenit tomorrow.
Mason Mount was available against Aston Villa but Thomas Tuchel decided to give him a rest after he made three appearances for England in the international break. Mason Mount has been Chelsea’s best attacker after Romelu Lukaku, he was preserved for tomorrow’s Champions League game. The Englishman will be looking to appear in his third Champions League campaign for Chelsea.
Timo Werner came in as a substitute against Aston Villa, the German forward is yet to form that bond with Romelu Lukaku in the forward position. We are still yet to see that starting lineup with Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner leading the front line. An attack with Mason Mount, Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner will definitely get the job done against Zenit St Petersburg tomorrow.
Reece James will be back for tomorrow’s fixture after he missed the game against Aston Villa through suspension, though he will be back in Chelsea’s next Premier League fixture. Reece James is the most preferred player in the right wing position. Callum Hudson Odoi played in the right wing against Aston Villa but his performance wasn’t what Thomas Tuchel would have expected.
A strong defense will also be needed for tomorrow’s game with Thiago Silva in the heart of the defense, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta on both sides, Chelsea are good to go. It’s now up to the players to have that winning mentality just like they did last season.
Forward: Mason Mount, Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner
Midfield/Wing Backs: Marcos Alonso, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, Reece James
Defense: Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta
Goalkeeper: Edouard Mendy
