Kanu’s a blind leader leading IPOB to death—Shettima Yerima
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has said those agitating for Nigeria’s disintegration should be decisively dealt with.
Yerima Shettima, National President of the AYCF,stated this while responding to President Mhammadu uhari’s speech o October 1.
Yerima said the type of insecurity the northeast and the northwest face now cannot be compared to the realities in the southwest and southeast.
“All of us are victims of the society today in one way or the other, so if, something goes wrong, you don’t have to behave abnormal. When you look at the situation on ground and think the only way out is to become violent at the expense of people’s lives, then such agitation is not worth it,” he told the Daily Post.
Yerima cited other secessionist groups like MASSOB taking a different approach to Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB.
“MASSOB has said she really believes that the Southeast is being marginalized and if Nigeria can address some of this injustice meted on them, they are willing to come back and build the nation. However, the IPOB’s approach by this their blind leader who is leading them to death zone is wrong, and two wrongs cannot make a right,” he said.
He suggested that the agitators, mostly young elements, should come together and build a synergy within themselves that would fight against those oppressing them.
“Anybody found disobeying the law of the land should be dealt with decisively; nobody is above the law. If you balkanize the country, where will you go to? You can’t be an American citizen, you will still remain a Nigerian,” he said.
While he said he is not a Buhari’s fan, he commended the president for laying it in the line for the secessionists.
“The statement coming from the president shows he is a leader and people should know that we are not in Banana Republic.”
