Akeredolu lifts ban on forestry activities in Ondo
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Friday lifted the ban on forestry activities in the state. The governor, therefore, directed that the forests in the State be reopened.
The banning of forestry activities in the State was decided at the State Executive Council meeting in August 2021.
Akeredolu cited reasonable level of compliance on the part of those saddled with responsibilities during the ban as reason for ending the forest ban.
The Ondo State government earlier told all permit holders, including other legitimate stakeholders to commence their activities only from the approved date, which is Monday, November15t, 2021. The Government imposed the ban to restore sanity in the sector, as well as encourage increased revenue generation in the State.
