#EndSARS: Adamawa Judicial Panel submits report to Gov Fintiri
The Adamawa State Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the allegations of brutality and extra-judicial killings by the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad, (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police, on Tuesday submitted its report to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
Governor Fintiri assured that the state government will fully implement the recommendations of the panel from their findings in the investigation of police brutality and extrajudicial killings in the state which precipitated #EndSARS protest in several parts of the country in October 2020. The governor expressed the belief that the panel investigated the allegations on merit.
The Chairman of the 13-member panel inaugurated in October 2020, Justice Adamu Hobon, disclosed that the panel received 13 memoranda from the public. He classified the memoranda to include loss of lives and properties, mental trauma, and others.
The report contained three volumes – recommendations, submissions, and exhibits.
The Adamawa panel did not get as many complaints as the Lagos panel which had earlier submitted its report to the governor.
