20-yr-old herdsman, others kill district head investigating bandits
A suspect who was part of the bandits in police custody has confessed to being among those who killed the District Head of Yantumaki community, Abubakar Atiku and his watchman.
According to the suspect, one Shamsu led seven of them to kill Atiku and his watch night for investigating him for banditry related offences.
Yusuf Abdullahi said he was drafted into the operation on that day while searching for his cows when he met the hoodlums and they invited him to join them in the planned attack.
Katsina PPRO Isah Gambo, on behalf of CP Sanusi Buba paraded the suspect at the command’s headquarters on Tuesday, before newsmen.
The 20-year-old who is from Kagara village in Matazu LGA of Katsina State in his confession said Shamu shot and killed him while Suleiman shot and killed his night watchman, Gambo Isah.
The suspect also disclosed that the sum of N100,000 cash was also stolen from the resident of the late district head.
He however denied participating in sharing the money.
”In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to have participated in the commission of the offence along with the following suspected bandits: (1) Shamsu (2) Ibrahim (3) Salmanu and (4) Kabir (now at large, hibernating in the forest),” Isah said.
