Man. Utd suffers home defeat from Wolves
Manchester United on Monday suffered home defeat in their league match with Wolves. The visitors ended the unbeaten start of Man. United’s interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, with a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.
The defeat kept Man United in the seventh position on the Premier League Table, with four points away from the top four. Wolves scored the winning and only goal of the match in the 82nd minute when Phil Jones header found Joao Moutinho at the edge of the box for a perfect strike into the net. The match against Wolves was Phil Jones first Premier League game in two years, following injuries that hit Man United’s regular players. Wolves moved up to eighth position, three points behind Manchester United on the League table.
Wolves have been a strong bone in the flesh of the big teams in the current English Premier League. They suffered narrow 1-0 defeat by Manchester City, same to Liverpool, and held Chelsea to a draw, before handing Man United a home defeat.
Chelsea had on Sunday played 2-2 with Liverpool at home, pushing Liverpool to third position with 42 points but a match to play, and Chelsea now in second position with 43 points, on the league table. Manchester City top the table with 53 points.
