Lockdown romance takes out CNN president, bigwig lover refuses to resign
Jeff Zucker, CNN president, has tendered his resignation letter following a freshly exposed three-year relationship with another bigwig in the media behemoth.
Zucker admitted the relation is a consensual one with Allison Gollust, the chief marketer of CNN worldwide, but said it was wrong in that he didn’t disclose it as CNN requires of its staff.
His marriage of 21 years collapsed about the time he and Gollust hit it off full-on, and the revelation came afer the network’s former host Chris Cuomo left following another sexual scandal.
“As part of the investigation into Chris Cuomo’s tenure at CNN, I was asked about a consensual relationship with my closest colleague, someone I have worked with for more than 20 years,’ he said in a resignation letter a CNN media correspondent tweeted Wednesday
“I acknowledged the relationship evolved in recent years. I was required to disclose it when it began but I didn’t. I was wrong.”
But his lover is still digging in her heels.
“Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years. Recently, our relationship changed during Covid. I regret that we did not disclose it at the right time,” she wrote I a press release the New York Times published.
“I’m incredibly proud of my time at CNN and look forward to continuing the great work we do every day.”
