Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen has further solidified his place in the country’s football history, becoming the joint-second all-time top scorer for the Super Eagles.
Osimhen reached this milestone on Thursday night, scoring his 23rd goal for Nigeria in a crucial 1-1 draw against Benin Republic in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match.
The goal propelled the Galatasaray striker into a tie for second place on Nigeria’s all-time scoring chart with football legend Segun Odegbami.
The late Rashidi Yekini remains Nigeria’s top scorer with an impressive 37 goals, a record that continues to stand unmatched.
At just 25 years old, Osimhen, who is widely regarded as one of Africa’s finest footballers, has the potential to climb even higher in the rankings.
Osimhen’s consistent performances for both club and country suggest that he could eventually challenge Yekini’s long-standing record.
