Osun APC crisis: Police prevent thugs from destroying Aregbesola residence in Osogbo
The police on Thursday, prevented political thugs from destroying the residence of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, during attack on the building by the thugs. The police said to have responded swiftly to the attack by the thugs and prevented the destruction of the property.
The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Olawale Olokode, warned that the police will not condone any act of hooliganism and disruption of peace in the state. He assured that the police will get the perpetrators arrested.
The political thugs had attacked the Oranmiyan House, property of the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, a bd attempted total destruction before the intervention of the police.
It was highlighted that the house, located along Gbongan Road, is used as office for the All Progressives Congress (APC) faction denoted as The Osun Progressives (TOP) led by Aregbesola.
Aregbesola has been engaged in a battle with Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State over control of the APC in the state. Governor Oyetola is leading a faction of the APC in Osun State, while Aregbesola is leading that The Osun Progressive (TOP).
The thugs had attacked the APC factional office at about 5.00pm on Thursday, striking about two hours The Osun Progressive (TOP) concluded its weekly meeting.
There are, however, efforts to reconcile the governor and the minister.
