Explosion kills two at Imo Oil community
A suspected bomb attack that led to explosion in an oil community in Imo State killed two persons in the early hours of Wednesday. The explosion occurred at a flow station in Izombe, an oil producing community in Oguta Local Government Area, Imo State.
The oil facility where the explosion occurred was identified to be operated by Addax Petroleum Development Nigeria Limited.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Command, Micheal Abattam, acknowledging the explosion, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in the state drafted the command’s anti-bomb unit, including some operatives of the command to the area immediately to prevent breakdown of law and order.
The two persons killed in the explosion were alleged to be bomb carriers. They were perceived to be trying to gain access into the flow station via the entrance to the premises but the bomb exploded, killing the two victims.
Meanwhile, the police is yet to give detail report on the incident.
