Shehu Sani reacts to Southern Governors betraying Wike
Senator Shehu Sani has defended the Southern Governors who Wike claimed to have betrayed him during the presidential primaries of the People’s Democratic Party.
Governor Wike, Rivers State Governor yesterday accused the Southern Governors of working against their earlier agreement to ensure that Presidency is returned to the South on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party.
The Governor who lost the presidential primaries of the People’s Democratic Party on Sunday with 237 votes to Atiku Abubarka claimed that he was seriously betrayed by those he called his brothers.
According to him, the Governors under the People’s Democratic Party ganged up with some bad eggs to bring to dust the quest of the South to produce the next president of Nigeria in the platform of the party. He said that his so called betrayals have chosen to remain in perpetual slavery.
While reacting to Wike’s claim that the Southern Governors betrayed him, Senator Shehu Sani said that he does not think that the Southern Governors betrayed Wike.
According to Senator Shehu Sani, the Southern Governors simply looked beyond the primaries and opted for a formidable presidential aspirant who they believe can overcome Northern sentiment, gather votes and eventually win the 2023 general election.
However, he said that Nyesom Wike remains an indispensable force for the battle ahead (the 2023 general election).
