FG confirms bandits freed about 600 Inmates during attack on Kuje Prison
The Federal Government on Wednesday disclosed that about 600 inmates escaped from the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja, when bandits attacked the Centre on Tuesday evening.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Shuaibu Belgore, on an assessment visit, said that over 300 of the inmates who escaped have been retrieved, adding that more are on the way.
Belgore disclosed that the prison accommodates 994 inmates, noting that the bandits invaded the facility to release their members.
The Permanent Secretary revealed that the bandits killed one person died and injured three others in the Tuesday attack.
