Wike’s outburst lays N1bn bribery allegation burden on Ayu

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in  his agitation for the resignation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu,  laid a N1 billion allegation burden on Ayu.

Governor Wike in  a media interaction on Friday alleged that Ayu collected the sum of N1 billion from an unnamed person  to compromise the May 28 and 29 PDP Presidential primary to favour of one of the presidential aspirants.

The Governor challenged Ayu to deny the allegation, threatening that he has proof to show how Ayu was paid the money through some businessmen in Lagos.

Wike had also alleged that Ayu held meetings at the residence of some retired Generals to intimidate and threaten him.

He also alleged that Ayu exploited PDP delegates during the national convention for the election of the presidential candidate of the party, won by Atiku Abubakar.

Wike and his allies, who include Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Chief Bode George, former Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, former Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, Donald Duke of Cross River State, Prof. Jerry Gana, had insisted on the resignation of Ayu and rotating the PDP national chairman to the south before the commencement of campaign. The Wike group haad on Wednesday pulled out of the Atiku presidential campaign.
