Police invade Eastern security Network camps, arrest 2 commanders in Ebonyi
The Ebonyi State Police Command has revealed the invasion of operational camps of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the militia wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Omege village, Agba community, and a shrine in Isu Onicha, in Ishielu Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.
The Police Public Relations Officewr of the Ebonyi State Command, Chris Anyanwu, in a statement in Abakaliki on Sunday, disclosed that the police raided the camp and dislodged the militia who flee after exchange of gunfire for over 30 minutes, saying that police arrested two suspects.
The PPRO stated that one of the leaders of the organization, popularly known as Sars Commander, identified as an indigene of Cross River State, is on the run and has been declared wanted.
The PPRO emphasized that the successful operations of the police is timely as campaigns for the 2023 general elections begin, including the yuletide season that is approaching.
He said that some items recovered from the ESN militia include military uniform, two double barrel guns, bulletproof vests, two camp gas cookers, and mosquito nets, etc.
