The Lagos PDP Governorship Candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor), on Saturday took his campaign to Eti-Osa and environs, promising to prioritise the masses’ interest in policies and programmes.

Adediran, who was joined in the campaign by the party’s House of Representatives Candidate for Eti-Osa constituency, Mr Bankole Wellington (popularly called Bank W), pledged to rule with the fear of God.

Also in the campaign was Mr Samani Muhammed, the PDP House of Assembly candidate in the constituency.

Adediran, in an interactive session with the Adamawa boys in Obalende, said his ambition was to liberate the people of the state and deliver them from oppression.

According to him, PDP is a party for the masses and it does not discriminate against anyone.

He urged the group to vote all PDP’s candidates in the state “to end years of misgovernance in Lagos”.

Adediran said that if elected as governor in 2023 general elections, his administration would revisit all unpopular policies taken by the ruling APC in the state.

The candidate, who noted that he had plan to massively engage the youth, said that the resources in the state could put smiles on every residents’ faces.

The leader of the group, James Shogunmi, said they were honoured by the presence of the gubernatorial candidate and promised to work for his victory at the poll.

Shogunmi said the party’s decision to give the PDP’s House of Assembly ticket in the constituency to a non-indigene had encouraged them to vote for the party.

In his remarks, Wellington, who noted that he had been serving his constituency for several years, said that over 500 people had benefited from his “Lekki Food Bank Project” within the constituency.

The popular musician stressed that his decision to join politics was to serve.

“I am going into politics for service, I have been giving back to the society, I have been supporting my constituency for years.

“But nothing has changed in the way things are done with years of voting for the APC, it is time to vote for a new party,” Wellington said.

Similarly, Adediran, in an interactive meeting with artisans and other professionals in Obalende, said the high poverty in the state contradicted its huge resources.

He said that the government’s efforts and investment in tackling unemployment and poverty had not yielded positive fruit.

He said if elected, efforts would be made to address unemployment and poverty while also giving all interest groups in the state a sense of belonging.

The PDP candidate, who promised to protect businesses, urged the artisans to vote for all PDP’s candidates, including the party’s Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

“I would put a stop to any form of harassment on Lagos roads. I decided to come and see you personally to know what your challenges are, ” he said.

Responding, Mr Haruna Muhammed, the Chairman of Tailors Association of Nigeria (TAN) in Obalende, who noted that the group was tired of bad governance, advised Adediran to keep his campaign promises if elected.

“I hope all that you are saying when you get there you would not change and become a different person,” Muhammed said.

In another interaction with group of women and youths at Obalende Police Barrack, Adediran said his administration would give the welfare of women and youths a priority and formulate policies to empower them.

“I am not here by accident; I am here by design, that is how we planned it. Our coming here is to assure you that you have a government that would be masses’ friendly.

“We want to run a government for the masses. We would create a ministry for people living with disability, because they also need attention,” he said

The Leader of the Women group, Mrs Esther Yerima, said successive administrations in the state had neglected women and youths in the constituency, despite support given to them.

NAN recalls that Adediran and his running mate, Ms Funke Akindele, who began their ward tour on Oct.19, have met with several stakeholders and toured markets to seek traders’ support on their ambition.

The campaign train has so far visited all wards in Alimosho, Badagry, Ojo, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos Mainland, Epe and Ibeju Lekki Local Government Areas.
