Elegushi holds 8th tennis tournament
- set to renovate Premier Tennis Club VIP Pavilion in honour of Tinubu
Oba Saheed Ademola, the Elegushi of Ikateland has indicated poise to renovate the VIP pavilion of the premier tennis club and renamed it after the Jagaban of Borgu Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Elegushi the sport loving monarch stated his resolve at the 2022 edition of the Oba Elegushi Tennis Tournament concluded at the Lord Rumes center court of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan.

He noted that the planned renovation is to honour Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress President Candidate at next year’s general elections.
The week-long tennis tournament featured over 30 male and female players, pulled into six teams to compete frantically for the set honour and prizes.

The eight edition of the annual tournament further affirms the monarch undying love and passion for deliberate discovery and grooming of budding talents.
It afforded an avenue for the monarch to contribute to the development of the sport and more importantly, encouraging participants to keep fit and to make impact on the development of the game.
The Elegushi also promised to institute junior tournament with special focus on young talents at the grassroots level.


The climax of thr Oba Elegushi Tennis Tournament had Team Absolute defeating Team Ebony to claim the top prize and emerge the clear winner of the competition.
The well-attended final was witnessed by monarchs, top politicians, Government functionaries, business moguls, community leaders and executives of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club as well as members.

Other teams that competed at the tournament include Team Lufadeju, Team President, Team Abere & Team Elegushi.
