Former Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State on Monday escaped assassination by gunmen in an attack on his convoy. The gunmen were said to have killed four of his police aides.
Ohakim was gathered to have disclosed that the attack occurred at about 4.30pm on Monday evening at Ori-Agu axis in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area (LGA), Imo State.
The former governor was on the way from his hometown to Owerri, with his daughter and son.
Ohakim was said to have narrated that the gunmen struck “from nowhere,” attacking his convoy and killing four members of his security team who were driving in the escort vehicle behind his official car. The former governor said he narrowly escaped because his driver was swift to speed off the scene.
