Wike declares Peter Obi hero of 2023 presidential election
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State a town hall with Igbo traders in Port Harcourt, declared Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) as the hero of the February 25, 2023 presidential election. The Rivers Governor asserted that even when not declared winner of the election, “his participation in the election guaranteed the emergence of a southerner as President-elect.”

Wike celebrated that Obi participation took away the strongholds of the Peoples Democratic (Party (PDP) in the country. He had declared: “the states where Obi recorded victories would have been won by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), thereby, retaining power in the North.”
Wike, therefore, declared: “In this election that we just did, Obi is my hero, as far as I’m concerned. If he didn’t contest, power would have remained in the North.”
Wike, however, enjoined the Igbo traders in Rivers State to vote massively for the PDP in the March 18 governorship and state assembly elections.
