Man allegedly disguises, steals Church property, cash
A 25-year-old man, Samuel Adejumo, who allegedly disguised as a member to steal a keyboard, cash and other Church property, on Tuesday appeared before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, in Lagos.
Adejumo, unemployed and of no fixed address, is standing trial on a four-count charge bordering on breach of peace, stealing and unlawful entrance.
The prosecutor, ASP Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 9, at Cherubim and Seraphim Church, at No. 94, Prophet Toba St., Abaranje, Lagos.
He said that the defendant disguised himself as a member of the worship centre, but stole two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, a keyboard worth N250,000, an Ox standing fan worth N60,000 and a ceiling fan worth N30,000.
Aigbokhan said that the defendant also stole a Panasonic DVD video player worth 16,000, and a cash sum of N14, 000.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 124, 168(d), 287 and 320 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him by the police.
The Magistrate, Miss K. A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She ruled that the sureties should be gainfully employed and must show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.
Ariyo adjourned the case until March 21, for mention.
