Senator Sani Musa joins race for Senate President
Senator Sani Musa, representing Niger North senatorial district in the National Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has joined the race for the President of the Senate in the next tenure.
Senator Musa in a media interaction on Tuesday morning at the National Assembly, argued that the North Central should produce the next President of the President, as the south west produced the president and the north east produced the vice president. He stated that the north central has been consistent in delivering bloc votes for the ruling party and deserves to be compensated.
The senator further emphasised that the APC should consider religious balancing in the zoning of principal officers of the National Assembly, noting that the president and vice president-elect are of the same religion.
He, however, noted the APC leadership, at a meeting in the State House, Abuja, urged National Assembly members to suspend declaration for the presiding and principal officers slots until the zoning of the offices is done, thus, he will make formal declaration when that is done.
Orji Uzor Kalu from Abia State had earlier declared for the president of the senate of the next tenure. Though, he, however, declared willingness to withdraw from the race if Asiwaju Bola Tinubu wishes.
