Refuge Bank bags National Daily Newspaper’s Mortgage Bank of the Year
One of Nigeria’s leading mortgage banks, Refuge Mortgage Bank has been honoured with the Mortgage Bank of the Year award by National Daily Newspapers.
The event tagged: “National Daily Award of Excellence” was held at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos on May 12, 2023, under the chairmanship of Prince Julius Adelusi Founder of Juli Pharmacy while former President Olusegun Obasanjo who was a Special Guest of honour delivered the keynote address.
Refuge Mortgage Bank Limited was incorporated in 1992 as a Private Limited Liability Company and licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria to carry on Mortgage Banking activities. The bank commenced operations in 1993.

In 2005, it was acquired by a new core investor who injected fresh capital into the bank. The bank is well capitalized beyond the mandatory level of the CBN.
Refuge Mortgage Bank is founded on an important idea: that people are at their best when they are striving to exceed accomplishments of the past.
It is licensed to carry out financial services such as granting loans to any person for the purchase, building, improvement and construction of residential or commercial houses; Opening and running of mortgage-focused and other current accounts on behalf of customers.
CEO and Editor-In-Chief of National Daily, Sylvester Ebhodage said Refuge Bank has contributed in no small measure in the development of mortgage banking in Nigeria.
“At National Daily newspapers, we believe that the best way to produce men and women who still believe in this great country, and are willing to give everything to make it work, is to recognize, and encourage them to continue doing the good things they do, while we urge others to emulate them.
“While we use the opportunity to show appreciation to many top public figures and top dignitaries in the country whose gestures have been worthy of emulation and whose actions over the years, and most especially within the period under review, have contributed in one way or another in uplifting humanity,” he added.
