Principal misappropriates N500,000 WAEC fees, issues students fake results
A 49-year- old principal of Mercy College, a private secondary school located in Oko-Oba area of Lagos, has been dragged to court for allegedly defrauding students of the school.
National Daily gathered that the dismissed principal, Abayomi Abdul, was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court, sitting at Samuel Ilori Court House, Ogba, Agege, for collecting about N500,000 from his students and issued them with fake Junior West African Examination Council, (WAEC), results.
It was learnt that the suspect had collected the money from 14 students of the school as registration fees for their 2015/2016 Junior WAEC but failed to remit it to the appropriate quarters or register the students for the examination.
National Daily further learnt when pressure from both the parents and the students became serious, Abayomi issued them with print out of fake results.
The prosecution police officer held that the alleged offence is punishable under Sections 166 (d), 285 (7) and 363 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos Nigeria 2011.
When the charges were read, he pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties who must be residing in Lagos with reasonable means of livelihood.
The matter was adjourned to Monday, March 6, 2017.
