We the committee of friends and political volunteers of Rt. Hon. Engr. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama read somewhere, a very timid and thoughtless statement credited to one faceless ‘Odianonse Francis’, where the writer attempted, but failed to slander the resounding records of our harbinger of hope – distinguished Ogbeide-Ihama.
The amateur and inept undertaker came with the pretentious coat of projecting the interest of Edo Central as it relates to the 2024 governorship election in Edo State. Our brothers across districts are aware that the 2024 political struggle shall be fought along the lines of equity, fairness, good leadership, trust, closeness to Edo people and not on ethnic biases, imposition nor propaganda.
Therefore, we counsel ‘Odianonse’ and his sponsors to dry their gun powder, if they have any, and wait to project their anointed aspirant to the good people of Edo State. Ogbeide-Ihama has remained a non-desperate politician as he showed in the past, when he willingly stepped down for the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki when he was disqualified by his party – the All Progressives Congress for questionable University Degree.
The fallacious statement that: “Although, Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama Omoregie represented Oredo Federal Constituency for two terms without nothing to show for it, he is poised to contest the gubernatorial election come 2024 when performance while in office ought to be the watchword…It is a futile journey to nowhere as far as stakeholders in Edo State are concerned”, shows clearly that the hired writer’s main motive of spewing his conjured story, is to serve the interest of a desperate emerging godfather.
While we are not holding brief for Chief Dan Osi Orbih, we are scandalized by the attempt of the ghost writer to dream an imaginable division between Ogbeide-Ihama and the National Vice Chairman of our great party, Orbih. The two gentlemen are labourers in the vineyard of a political struggle to reunite the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Therefore, the felon statement that, “Omoregie is a brainchild of Chief Dan Orbih, something the former lawmaker denies vehemently…it will be difficult for the PDP South South Vice Chairman to support him for this path to perdition he has chosen to shortchange the Esan nation”, is nothing but fruitless wasteful adventure by ‘Odianonse’ and his unpopular paymasters.
‘Odianonse Francis’ and his merchants of destructive voyagers are in a long journey to yet again, an unknown place.
The allusion by ‘Odianonse’ that the governor’s camp told him that “Omoregie collected over 150 million Naira from Governor Obaseki as a compensation for the ticket…”, is a mere pepper soup joint gossip and does not demand any response. According to a famous Yoruba proverb, “Truth shreds a lie of twenty years in one day.”
On a final note, we ask that ‘Odianonse’ and his sponsors should focus their energy on promoting their principal and whoever they decide to project as candidate for the September 21, 2024 governorship election. Rt. Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama should be left out of the wrecked, wretched miserable drowning ship; because in the final analysis, the power to elect governor for Edo State rest on us – The People!
