The Jim Obazee committee report was said to have indicted Aliko Dangote of allegedly accessing $3.4 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria during the Godwin Emefiele tenure as CBN Governor.
The President had in July appointed a committee to investigate the Central Bank of Nigeria and report findings to him.
The committee report had revealed that “N3 trillion was allegedly misappropriated on two projects under Godwin Emefiele as the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor.
The funds were allegedly linked to COVID loans and the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme.
President Bola Tinubu had in a letter dated July 28, 2023, appointed Jim Obazee, Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, as the special investigator, to probe the CBN.
The Jim Obazee committee was “said to have been receiving death threats from very highly place members of the society who were indicted for various financial crimes”; in the CBN report.
Meanwhile, the President was said to have ordered those indicted in the committee report to “go and refund the money”. President Tinubu was also said to have shut his door against any form of lobbying for cover up on the indictment.
