Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State on Wednesday approved the award of contract for the reconstruction of Okania-Ogbogoro road.
Governor Fubara explained: “the decision of the Council, which I presided over, was borne out of the fact that the route is significant in taking our people off the East-West road and the ongoing construction work on the Port Harcourt Ring Road”.

“A major decision made at today’s State Executive Council Meeting was the re-awarding of the contract for the reconstruction of Okania-Ogbogoro road.
“With the intent of accelerating development in our dear State, the road will ease the movement of our people on that axis.
“The project, after due process consideration, was awarded to CCECC at the sum of N6.7 billion.
“The decision of the Council which I presided over, was borne out of the fact that the route is significant in taking our people off the East-West road and the ongoing construction work on the Port Harcourt Ring Road.
“We also considered the immediate fixing of the deplorable Igwuruta roundabout that leads to Chokocho, so as to cushion the challenges created by the bad sections of the road.”
