Ministers will begin public performance review May 23–Idris

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says his colleagues will begin a public review of their performances on May 23.

Idris spoke on Wednesday during a press briefing in  Abuja, as part of activities to commemorate the one year anniversary of the President Bola Tinubu administration.

The minister said the reviews were slated to begin today but were moved to Thursday for “better efficiency”.

“From tomorrow, we are going to have ministers come in here to discuss what they are doing in their various ministries, consistent with the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Idris said.

“Let me also say that consistent again with the general principles and policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the one year anniversary will be one that is low-keyed and that is why emphasis is going to be placed only on sectoral briefings.

“There would be no ceremonies heralding the one year anniversary of the president. We want to have sectoral briefings by the various ministers.”

Idris said the briefings align with the accountability and transparency precept of the Tinubu administration.

Last year, Hadiza Bala Usman, special adviser to the president on policy coordination, said each minister would sign a performance bond with Tinubu.

Bala Usman said the bond will contain key performance indicators (KPIs) that would be reviewed quarterly.

In January, the special adviser warned that ministers who do not perform will be dropped.
