Senate vows to expose economic saboteurs in petroleum sector

The Nigerian Senate has vowed to uncover and hold accountable those responsible for sabotaging the nation’s petroleum sector.

The commitment was made by the Senate ad-hoc committee tasked with investigating alleged economic sabotage within the Nigerian Petroleum Industry, during a press conference held in Abuja on Thursday.

The committee, led by Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, was joined by other panel members as he read the statement.

Chairing the committee, Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele stated that the panel is committed to addressing issues that threaten economic stability and public health.

The investigation aims to reveal the roots of sabotage, recommend best practices, and promote greater investment in the petroleum sector.

Bamidele assured that the committee would carry out its duties impartially, focusing on protecting Nigeria’s strategic interests.

Bamidele emphasized, “We are dedicated to addressing critical issues that threaten our economic prosperity, fiscal stability, and public health.

As part of our mandate, we will uncover the sources of economic sabotage in Nigeria’s petroleum industry and propose recommendations to implement global best practices.

Our goal is to enhance investment opportunities, particularly in the midstream and downstream sectors.”

He assured that the committee would conduct its investigation impartially and without favoritism, aiming to safeguard and advance the strategic national interests of the country.
