Bauchi govt launches distribution of free 42,000 bags of fertilizer to farmers
The Bauchi State Government has launched the distribution of 42,000 bags of fertilizer to farmers across the state free of charge with the aim of achieving food security.
Mukhtar Gidado, the spokesperson to Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
According to Gidado, the Chairman of the Distribution Committee and Emir of Jama’are, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad confirmed the development, adding that modalities have been put in place to ensure a smooth exercise.
The traditional ruler emphasized that: “The distribution of fertilizer is a significant step towards achieving agricultural self-sufficiency in Bauchi State.”
He assured that the committee has employed effective modalities to ensure that the fertilizer reaches the intended beneficiaries, including smallholder farmers, in a transparent and equitable manner.

He added that the distribution process would be closely monitored to prevent any irregularities.
On his part, Professor Simon Madugu Yalams, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development said: “The primary objective of the initiative is to boost food security in the state.
“The government’s goal is to support farmers in increasing their productivity, thereby enhancing food availability and reducing poverty.”
He added that the government was empowering the farmers to improve “crop yields and quality, leading to increased food production and economic growth.”
He reiterated that the initiative was a testament to the governor’s commitment to agricultural development and food security.
