Gunmen kidnap over 20 Nigerian medical, dental students en route to convention
Over 20 medical and dental students, together with a House Officer have been abducted in Benue State on their way to the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students, FECAMDS, in Enugu.
According to Sahara Reporters, the students from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos were travelling together when they were ambushed by gunmen about 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo district of Benue State.
The State Police Command verified the incident to the aforementioned publication on Friday morning, raising fears about the safety of the abducted students.
Meanwhile, one of the victims has been identified as a House Officer called Dr. Louis.
An X account that reports on medical matters, @Nigerian_Doctor, who also posted the information, urged security agencies to intervene immediately to rescue the students and relieve the families of their agony.

It wrote: “A House Officer (Dr Louis) and 20+ Medical and Dental Students have reportedly been kidnapped!
“These students, from University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, were traveling for their Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu.
They were reportedly abducted somewhere in Benue State, not far from Otukpo, judging by their last known location.
“We plead for your urgent intervention.”
