Giant Carat Diamond found in Botswana
A massive 2,492-carat diamond has been discovered in Botswana, making it one of the largest rough diamonds ever unearthed.
The gem was discovered at the Karowe Mine, operated by Canadian mining company Lucara Gem Corp on thursday
The Gem, which weighs approximately 1.5 pounds, was found using Lucara’s advanced Mega Recovery X-ray technology.

The company did not disclose the value or quality of the diamond stone.
Botswana, a major producer, has a history of discovering exceptional gems.
The previous largest diamond found in the country was a 1,758-carat stone named Sewelo, discovered by Lucara in 2019.
