NAF reshuffles top brass to boost operational efficiency, innovation

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing operational flexibility, fostering fresh perspectives, and optimizing leadership within the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has authorized the redeployment of several senior officers.

This reshuffle affects key positions, including Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding (AOCs), Directors, and Commanders.

Among the notable changes, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Olasunkanmi Abidoye has been moved from the Defence Headquarters to NAF Headquarters, where he will serve as the Chief of Standards and Evaluation.

AVM Adeniyi Amesinlola, previously the Commandant at the Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, has been appointed as the Chief of Transformation and Innovation at NAF Headquarters.

Additionally, AVM Abubakar Adamu takes on the role of Group Managing Director at NAFIL Group.

Other significant appointments include AVM Iboro Etukudo as the Chief of Policy and Plans, AVM Francis Edosa as the Chief of Training and Operations, and AVM Dalhat Ladan as the Chief of Air Intelligence.

AVM Suleiman Usman will now oversee the Chief of Communication and Information Systems, while AVM Sayo Olatunde and AVM Lanre Oluwatoyin have been assigned to the Defence Headquarters as Chief of Defence Policy and Plans and Chief of Defence Space Administration, respectively.

Further reassignments include AVM Ibikunle Daramola, who moves from his role as Chief of Communication and Information Systems to become the Chief of Civil-Military Relations.
AVM Abiola Amodu, formerly the Director General of the Air Force Research and Development Institute, has been named Chief of Aircraft Engineering, and AVM Patrick Phillips will serve as the new Chief of Logistics.

The reshuffle also extends to the AOCs, with AVM Elijah Ebiowe now heading the Tactical Air Command in Makurdi, AVM Sunday Aneke taking over Mobility Command in Yenagoa, AVM Abubakar Abdullahi overseeing the Air Training Command in Kaduna, and AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun leading the Logistics Command in Ikeja.

In congratulating the newly appointed officers, Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized that these redeployments are intended to allow for greater strategic flexibility and the optimization of resources, thereby enhancing the operational effectiveness of the NAF.

He also stressed the importance of deep, critical thinking in devising strategies to tackle the nation’s current security challenges.
