Parallex Bank CEO Dr. Olufemi Bakre receives Atlanta Honorary Citizenship, Excellence award
In a significant international recognition of his leadership and contributions to Nigeria’s banking sector, Dr. Olufemi Bakre, Managing Director and CEO of Parallex Bank, has been conferred with the Honorary Citizenship of the State of Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
The prestigious honor was presented during the 2025 Trade Conference organized by the Pan African American Chamber (PAAC) in collaboration with EXIM Bank and the African Union.
The annual event, held in Atlanta, celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to trade, investment, and socio-economic development across Africa and its diaspora.
In addition to the honorary citizenship, Dr. Bakre also received the Excellence in Corporate Governance Award, recognizing his unwavering commitment to ethical leadership, transparency, and best governance practices within Nigeria’s financial industry.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Chuck Barlow, Chief Executive Officer of PAAC, praised Dr. Bakre for his visionary leadership, which has propelled Parallex Bank into a respected force in fostering international trade and investment.

The double honors place Dr. Bakre among a select group of distinguished Nigerians who have received similar international accolades.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Bakre expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, describing the awards as both humbling and motivating.
“I am truly honored by this recognition. It inspires me to do more, not just for the growth of Parallex Bank, but for the advancement of Nigeria and Africa at large,” he said.
“I am grateful to the State of Georgia for these prestigious honors and to the Board, Management, and Staff of Parallex Bank for their unwavering support in driving our vision of limitless banking.”
