New terror group ‘Mahmuda’ emerges in North-Central, kills over 15 in fresh attack
A newly identified terror group known as Mahmuda has surfaced in North-Central Nigeria, launching deadly attacks on rural communities, National Daily gathered.
The group is said to operate around the Kainji Lake National Park, which spans parts of Kwara and Niger states. Affected areas include communities in Kaiama and Baruten Local Government Areas in Kwara (such as Kemaanji, Tenebo, Baabete, Nuku, and Nanu), as well as Babana and Wawa districts in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to local sources, Mahmuda militants attacked the community of Kemaanji on Wednesday, killing over 15 people, including members of a local vigilante group.
“Their leader has issued threats through voice notes, warning surrounding communities. They kill, kidnap, and demand ransom,” a resident told newsmen.
