Naira abuse: Tompolo has questions to answer – EFCC
“Nobody is above the law. Tompolo will have questions to answer!”
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has stated that Chief Government Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo, will be questioned regarding an alleged case of naira abuse. The anti-graft agency made this announcement in a post on X on Monday.
“Nobody is above the law. Tompolo will have questions to answer!”
The EFCC’s statement follows widespread reactions on social media, where Nigerians drew the agency’s attention to a video allegedly showing Tompolo being sprayed with naira notes during his 54th birthday celebration in April.

The EFCC referenced Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007 (as amended), which prohibits the spraying, dancing on, or matching on the Naira, deeming such actions as abuse and defacement punishable by fines, imprisonment, or both.
This development comes amidst increased scrutiny of the EFCC’s enforcement of naira abuse laws, with several public figures recently facing similar allegations.
