EFCC orders arrest of dismissed staff featured on matchmaking show

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has ordered the arrest of one of its dismissed staff members, Olakunle Alex Folarin, after he was seen participating in an online matchmaking programme hosted by entertainer Lege Miami.

Folarin, who appeared on Lege Miami’s TikTok live dating platform, sparked reactions after viewers identified him as an EFCC official. The video quickly went viral, leading to public inquiries to the Commission.

In a statement released on Monday via its official X handle, the EFCC clarified that Folarin was no longer in its service, having been dismissed for certificate forgery. The Commission added that he was unlawfully in possession of official property, including an identity card, which he failed to surrender after his dismissal.

“The EFCC condemns in the strongest terms the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme running on Lege Miami’s social media platforms,” the statement read.

“Folarin was recently dismissed from the Commission for certificate forgery. He was a driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the EFCC. The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has ordered his arrest for being in possession of some Commission properties, including an identity card, which he ought to have returned upon dismissal.”

The anti-graft agency further urged the public not to associate Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC.
