Troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Chabbal Checkpoint have intercepted a suspicious vehicle carrying five occupants, recovering approximately Thirty-Seven Million Naira (N37,000,000) and multiple mobile phones suspected to be linked to terrorist financing and coordination activities.
According to a statement from military sources, the vehicle was stopped and thoroughly searched as part of ongoing operations targeting illicit financial and logistical support networks for insurgent groups in the North-East.
The interception represents a significant breakthrough in efforts to dismantle financial conduits supporting terrorist operations in the region. Military officials noted that the seized mobile devices are being investigated for potential links to planning, funding, or coordinating attacks.
“This operation demonstrates a proactive strategy by Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) to tighten the noose on terrorist supply chains, targeting both physical movement corridors and financial enablers simultaneously,” the statement said.

By maintaining vigilance along key transit routes, troops aim to disrupt terrorist logistics and reduce the capacity of insurgent groups to regroup or launch attacks. The military described the operation as part of a deliberate approach to weaken insurgent elements from within.
The High Command commended the professionalism, resilience, and vigilance of the troops and collaborating security agencies, praising their morale and efficiency in carrying out such high-stakes operations.
“Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in its mandate to frustrate terrorist ambitions and restore enduring peace and economic stability across the North-East region,” the statement added.
Security analysts said that intercepting large sums of money and communication devices not only disrupts immediate operations but also signals to insurgents that the military is systematically closing gaps in their logistical and financial networks.
The operation underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen security, stabilize communities, and curtail the resources available to armed groups operating in Borno and surrounding states.
