The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects allegedly involved in the trafficking of human body parts following an intelligence-led operation in Iseyin and Saki areas of the state.

The arrests were disclosed on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, who said the operation followed months of intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance by police operatives.

According to the police, the suspects were apprehended at separate locations in Iseyin and Saki after investigators tracked their alleged activities. Searches of the locations reportedly led to the recovery of suspected human remains and various charms.

Among the items recovered were a substance suspected to be human flesh, a suspected human heart, skull fragments and assorted charms. The police said the recovered materials are being subjected to further investigation and forensic examination.

The command said the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks allegedly involved in the illegal trade in human body parts.

Police authorities have not established through the investigation how the suspected human remains were obtained or whether the suspects are connected to any specific murder case. The findings will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation and forensic examination.

The 10 suspects remain in police custody as investigators work to establish their individual roles and determine whether other members of the alleged network are still at large.

The police command said investigations would continue, with the suspects expected to face prosecution if sufficient evidence is established against them.

The arrests have renewed concerns over criminal activities involving alleged human-part trafficking in parts of Oyo State, while authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
