APC steps up 2027 mobilisation as campaign activities intensify nationwide

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu, its governors and other candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, with fresh activities recorded in Edo, Borno and Kano states.

The weekend activities came ahead of the expected commencement of wider state-to-state campaign engagements, with the party expanding its structures and mobilisation efforts across the country.

In Edo State, the APC Campaign Council said it was strengthening its grassroots machinery to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The council’s Director of Media, John Mayaki, said Governor Monday Okpebholo’s target of mobilising 2.5 million votes for Tinubu should be regarded as an organisational objective rather than an election forecast.

Mayaki said the mobilisation plan would extend from the state level to local governments, wards and polling units, with emphasis on voter registration, collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and turnout on Election Day.

He also claimed that opposition forces in Edo had weakened, alleging that about 70 per cent of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in the state had moved to the APC, while others had withdrawn from active politics.

The claim has been made by the APC campaign council and represents the party’s assessment of the political situation in the state.

In Borno, Governor Babagana Zulum also led a mobilisation rally in Maiduguri in support of Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Zulum linked the party’s campaign to what he described as security and recovery gains in the state, while calling for continuity in governance.

The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a support group campaigning for Tinubu, had earlier unveiled 44 vehicles and other campaign equipment in Borno for grassroots mobilisation across the state’s 27 local government areas.

In Kano, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf unveiled 50 vehicles donated by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Door-to-Door Movement, led by Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

The vehicles are expected to be deployed across the state’s 44 local government areas to support grassroots engagement and campaign logistics ahead of the 2027 elections.

Yusuf also called for continued support for Tinubu’s second-term bid, citing the need to maintain the political understanding around rotation of power between the North and South.

His remarks were made while receiving the campaign vehicles in Kano.

The developments indicate an increasing focus by the APC and allied support groups on ward-level and polling-unit mobilisation, as political parties prepare for the 2027 general elections.

With campaign structures being expanded across several states, the coming months are expected to see increased political activity, voter engagement and mobilisation by parties and their support organisations.
