Bayern Munich, Harry Kane agree new contract until 2029
Bayern Munich and England captain Harry Kane have reached a verbal agreement in principle on a contract extension that would keep the striker at the German club until June 2029.
The agreement, reported on Thursday, October 15, 2026, follows negotiations between the Bundesliga champions and the 33-year-old forward, whose current contract is due to expire in 2027.
According to Sky Sports and transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the main terms of the proposed extension, including salary and contract duration, have been agreed, with the paperwork undergoing legal checks ahead of the expected signing.
Kane has reportedly given his approval to the deal, although neither the player nor Bayern had formally announced a signed extension at the time of reporting.
The proposed two-year extension would keep Kane at the Allianz Arena into his mid-30s and strengthen Bayern’s plans around a striker who has become central to their attack since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.
Kane moved to Bayern in August 2023 in a club-record transfer after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most prolific forwards with Tottenham.
Since arriving in Munich, he has maintained an impressive scoring record, reaching more than 150 goals in approximately 156 appearances across competitions, according to Sky Sports.
The England captain has also won major domestic honours with Bayern, including Bundesliga titles, and has continued to feature prominently in the club’s pursuit of trophies in Germany and Europe.
His individual performances have reinforced his importance to Bayern, who have sought to secure his future before his existing deal enters its final months.
Bayern officials have previously expressed optimism about extending Kane’s contract. Sporting director Christoph Freund said earlier in October that negotiations were progressing positively but stressed that the agreement would not be final until the relevant documents had been signed.
Kane has also spoken positively about his time in Munich, saying in September that discussions were going well and that he was happy at the club.
The proposed extension would provide continuity for Bayern’s attack and reduce uncertainty over the future of their leading goalscorer.
For Kane, remaining in Munich would offer the opportunity to continue competing for domestic and European honours while maintaining his position as one of the leading forwards in European football.
The deal remains subject to the completion of the formalities and an official announcement from Bayern Munich.
