By Anuoluwa Amao
The Kwara State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate allegedly linked to multiple abductions and ransom collections across the state.
The operation began with the arrest of Aliyu Isiaka in Okolowo, Ilorin, on October 24. Police spokesperson Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi said in a statement on Tuesday that Isiaka was intercepted around 6 p.m. wearing women’s clothing and a hijab, with a polythene bag containing assorted charms.
According to the police, Isiaka, from Ga’a-Kpapa Village in Moro Local Government Area, confessed to belonging to a nine-man gang allegedly led by a suspect known as Juli, who remains at large.
He reportedly told investigators that he joined the gang in August 2026 and participated in kidnappings in Oloru, Alapa and Malete, where substantial ransoms were collected.
Acting on information gathered during the investigation, police officers and Forest Guards raided the gang’s suspected camp on October 25, arresting two more suspects identified as Seriki and Jebrin.
The command said the three suspects remain under investigation and will be arraigned after inquiries are concluded
